A Few Words from the Editor:
Well, it's been a year since the last release of the Fidonet AD&D Compendium, and here we are with Release 2.0. Since release 1.0, the Compendium has been edited, appended, alphabatized, catagorized, standerdized and optimized for your covenience. I've been a Compendium editor since it began, so you can take my word for it.I still maintain the founder's purpose, to keep this document 100% FidoNet. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING here from the Internet. BBSs still have a say in the online world, even if half the names in the AD&D echo do have an '@' in them. :)
There were several problems with version 1.00 of the Fidonet Compendium, most of them related to the copyright laws. We are happy to accept your contributions, but they must be original. Many spells and magic items in the first release were either copied directly from TSR products, or were renamed and altered slightly. Most of these were probably not done on purpose. After all, the plagerist's names were on their work, so they, along with the editor and compiler, would be the ones that TSR sent their thugs after. There are many possible ways that copyrighted material may have been sent to the compendium. Maybe you renamed a TSR idea years ago to fit your campaign and forgot that it wasn't your original work. Whatever the case may be, please be sure not to submit copyrighted material. We don't want to delay the next version of the compendium because the editors and compilers have to serve a prison sentance. :)
Also, please submit only one of each item. There were sets of items submitted to version 1.00 of the Compendium of several items that differed only in their names or in the classes that could use them. If there are slight variations on your items that you want included in the compendium, please just add a little note at the end of the description, like "There also exist the Pants of Yam Picking, Water Clock of Yam Picking, and Antler of Yam Picking."
Well, enough talk. I'm using almost as much space with this editor's note as I saved by removing problem items. :)
On with the compendium!
